What’s the Difference Between a Traditional Dentist vs. a Holistic Dentist?
A holistic dentist takes into account that there is an entire body connected to your teeth. It considers the consequences and effects of dental treatment on the entire body, not just the tooth being treated.
Other dental offices will take care of only the tooth in question, not the cause.
What Does the Safe Removal of Amalgam/Mercury Mean?
Our mercury removal procedures utilize special protocols that help reduce your exposure to harmful mercury particles and vapors during your procedure. We replace the silver fillings in your mouth with materials that meet your specific needs/that you are biocompatible to.

In addition, Dr. Lerner pays very close attention to the details of your bite while restoring your mouth in order to achieve optimum balance and harmony in your body.
What Is Myofunctional Therapy?
Myofunctional Therapy addresses the reflexes of the face and mouth muscles used to chew and swallow. This is done through a series of exercises to reeducate the muscles. When not functioning correctly it affects the posture and development of the bite.

Why Is My Bite So Important?
Your jaw joints and teeth work in harmony. Having a healthy bite is essential to maintaining your overall health. A bad bite can contribute to bad posture and tension in the muscles of the jaw, neck, and back. In addition, a bad bite is often associated with the constraint of the air passage through the throat causing snoring or sleep apnea.
How Can My Bite Be Corrected?
We can correct your bite through a physiological/neuromuscular approach to balancing the muscles and alignment of posture. We would first use computerized measurements of the jaw muscles to find the most relaxed position of the jaw and fit a removable orthotic appliance to your lower teeth to compensate for the deficiencies of your bite. Once we have established the most physiologic alignment of your bite we can make the correction permanent. Depending on the condition of your teeth this can be accomplished by correcting the shape of the teeth or correcting the alignment of the teeth with specialized orthodontics, or a combination of both.
Can Invisalign® Correct My Bite?
Invisalign, while effective to make teeth look straighter, is not an accurate means of correcting the bite to a physiologic position. This is because the aligners themselves, which are changed weekly, cannot guide the jaw to a proper physiologic jaw position.
