Dental Acupuncture in Yorktown Heights, NY
Relief for Pain & Anxiety. Testing for Materials Sensitivity, and More
For thousands of years, acupuncture has been used for the relief of pain and anxiety. It works with the body’s own pain control mechanisms, stimulating the release of endorphins which block the pain signals in the brain. It is so effective that we have some patients for whom acupuncture treatment is preferred instead of a local anesthetic. Most are more comfortable with a local anesthetic and acupuncture used as an adjunct. For some, we will use acupuncture in combination with nitrous oxide and/or oral sedation. As a holistic dental practice, we employ acupuncture in Yorktown Heights, NY in other ways as well.
Diagnosing and Treating the Mouth and its Relationships with the Whole Body
Conditions in the mouth have a profound potential to reflect and influence the health of the whole person. Disruptions to the flow of energy through the mouth may affect remote regions of the body and disruptions elsewhere may manifest in the mouth. These relationships are a result of communication between the Acupuncture Meridians and the teeth. We will treat your mouth considering the dental acupuncture relationships with your whole body.
As a holistic dentist and dental acupuncturist, Dr. Lerner screens patients for sensitivity to materials in their teeth as well as for potential sensitivity to materials we are considering to use in their treatment. The simplest test is to screen with Applied Kinesiology on acupuncture points to determine if the body might respond adversely to the material.
When appropriate, we can also order blood tests such as a BioComp Screening for sensitivity to dental materials. This is similar to the Clifford Test, which is unavailable in NY state.
