For many years, acupuncture has been used to relieve pain and anxiety. It is so effective that we have some patients who prefer acupuncture treatment over a local anesthetic. Many patients are more comfortable with a local anesthetic and acupuncture used as an adjunct. As a holistic dentist and dental acupuncturist, Dr. Lerner will screen you for sensitivity to materials in your teeth as well as for potential sensitivity to materials we may use during your treatment. The simplest test is to screen with Applied Kinesiology on acupuncture points to determine if your body might respond adversely to the material.

When appropriate, we can also order blood tests such as a BioComp Screening for sensitivity to dental materials. This is similar to the Clifford Test, which is unavailable in the state of New York.
